I am a Mum of a 13-year old Year 8 student who is experiencing separation anxiety and school refusal. We live in Sydney Australia.
She was diagnosed when she was 12-years old and starting Year 7. With the help of school, psychiatrist and clinical psychologist, she was able to complete year 7 successfully.
We thought she already got over the anxiety when this school year started on 3 Feb 2016. However, she experienced the physical symptoms and the fear again - and somehow she got depressive, angry and aggressive. She used to listen to us her parents and her psychologist last year - however, she is not as engaged and does respond to our help anymore.
My husband and I are confused. This is now the third week since she is not in school and is refusing to follow the program we set for her - work on her assignments from home.
Need some of your thoughts regarding this from your experiences.
